WHO ARE WE?
Barrington Parents of Note is a parent group formed to support the Barrington High School (RI) Music Department, both instrumental and choral. We are a not-for-profit organization. All proceeds from donations, sponsorships, and fundraising activities are used to offset music department trips, guest artists, non-budget department items, recognition plaques, and Senior awards. We assist the music teachers with event planning, hospitality, student recognition, publicity, and fundraising. We keep parents updated on activities, opportunities, important dates, deadlines, event-required attire, fundraising details and more.
Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00PM in the BHS Band Room.

Purchased instrument masks and bell covers for the band when the district approved limited playing indoors.
Funded a widget for Mr. Mitnik to upgrade the emusic website.
Bought the domain name www.parentsofnote.org
Purchased much needed storage containers for music materials
Funded the registration fee for BHS All Eastern students
Funded the 5 annual awards for seniors
Purchased senior gifts for 36 seniors
ADVOCACY
Sent letters to Admin and School Committee asking them to allow Distance Learners to participate in after school combos, just as it allowed Distance Learner athletes to participate in sports. While we did not get immediate satisfaction, Admin did eventually allow this.
Sent letters to Admin and Reentry Task Force regarding the disconnect between district policy and RIDOH/CDC guidelines about music in school. I really feel like this made an impact and put pressure on them to actually spend time looking at the updated information and change their policy to allow more students to play together during class.
Small group of Senior parents sent letters to BHS Admin regarding allowing the end-of-year music awards presentation to go on. The music department was given the green light the same day.
Moral support for the teachers and each other during a very challenging year.
